Faeries - The September Theme Challenge Reveal

With the end of September, we're 3/4 of the way through the year! WHAT??? Caroline selected the really cool theme of faeries for the challenge this month. I wish I could have done it justice, but I am in and out of town so frequently, I just don't have time to do any theme justice right now. Hopefully things will slow down in a couple months.

I had a couple ideas, but what really spoke to me was this ceramic butterfly cabochon by Caroline. It's so earthy and butterflies are like real life faries we can see and interact with. Unfortunately I didn't have time to finish it before I had to write this post, but here's what I managed. I can hardly wait to finish it because I love it so much.

Here's the back side. I wanted to use a piece of cereal box chipboard to stabilize the leaf at the bottom so it didn't flop around (I also added a drop of glue to the back side of the leaf in addition to sewing it to the backing).

So far, so good!! Your bead color choices really set off the butterfly. Can't wait to see your final rendition.

Beautiful. It will be stunning when you finish it.

Love it! Especially the little details with the leaf and all the flowers! I soooooo need to start playing with beading too (or again but it so long ago).

Now if that isn't a great start to a beautiful piece, I don't know what it is! Awesome.

That's stunning. I'd put a brooch back on it and wear it all autumn... I really love it!

Thank you for joining me in the challenge!

I love the beadwork and Caroline's cab. Such a great design (and I love that you have your hands in so many creative pots)!

I just LOVE how you beaded this! The design around the edges are fantastic. I can't wait to see it finished. Such a beautiful piece.

Gracious, it's gorgeous!! I really like the dark woodsy bronze/browns you used with the cab. The give it a bit of shine without detracting from the focal. And, the leaf really grounds it in that natural zone. I'm sure it'll be a showstopper when you've got it all done!

this is really lovely Jen, your bead work as always is just beautiful!

I love the colors you are using . The cab is beautiful and so is your beading. It will be a stunning piece.

So true that butterflies are real life fairies! Your design is beautiful, i can't wait to see it finished.

Stunning, no wonder you can't wait to finish it

I like your edging - the bugles alternating with the little clusters. And the leaf - perfect and understated! I usually use plastic as it wont have issues if the piece ever gets wet accidentally. I hate flop in a piece I am beading.

And lets be honest. As cool and gorgeous as Fun moths are - they are by nature magical and other worldly. Perfect for the theme.

Beautiful can't wait to see it completed
